Brief description of the parent pair:
Gift to Zaporozhye. Large-fruited, disease resistance, frost resistance -24 c.
RKV (47-08). Early ripening, frost resistance -27,-28 c.
3. Implementation:
Hybridization was carried out in 2011 during the flowering of the grapes. Forced pollination of the mother variety Podarok Zaporozhye was carried out with pollen from the parent hybrid RKV(47-08). Pollination was carried out twice a day (morning and evening) for 5-7 days until the berries were completely set.
A total of 112 hybrid seeds were obtained. After stratification in winter and germination, 49 seedlings were planted in cups in January 2012. The similarity of the seeds of this hybrid combination is average.
Seedlings were planted in the ground in 2012 - 29 seedlings. The seedlings of this hybrid combination are mostly vigorous and have good resistance to fungal diseases and frost. For the winter, seedlings are not covered from birth.
The first fruiting of hybrid forms was in 2015-2016. Many forms of this combination had a signal berry size of 3 to 5 grams and clusters of 300 to 600 grams. Subsequently, with the age of the seedlings, the size characteristics of the berries and bunches increased slightly. But there were no more berries than Gift to Zaporozhye.
The hybrid offspring of this combination are not very diverse. Almost all seedlings had yellow-green berries (both parents have yellow-green berries). Only two of them were black (215-12, 254-12).
In general, seedlings have a harmonious taste. There was no labrusca taste. Most seedlings had firm, crisp flesh, but some had juicy or slimy flesh. The seeds are medium and small. Resistance to cracking is not high. A lot of seedlings were removed due to their tendency to crack.
There were no early ripening seedlings at all. All seedlings have early-medium or medium ripening period.
Resistance to fungal diseases is increased, at the level of 2.5-3 points on the susceptibility scale. Some seedlings had susceptibility to oidium at a level of 3.5-4.0 points.
The first main and at the same time final selection of seedlings was made after the third fruiting in 2018–2019.
Based on the results of observation, only one hybrid seedling was selected to the elite for further testing and study: Black Zaporozhets: PZ x RKV47 (254-12) - High yield, large fruit, vigor, resistance to cracking and frost.
Also, cuttings were cut from the forms of this combination to test frost resistance in the laboratory using the method of pre-hardening and freezing in the freezer .
The results of testing cuttings can be found in the results of testing cuttings, section: "Checking frost resistance". The frost resistance of hybrid forms in this combination is within – 27, – 28 degrees c.
4. Advantages:
Greater growth vigor, good vine ripening, productivity, increased disease resistance, frost resistance.
5. Disadvantages:
There are no early ripening seedlings, most seedlings are prone to cracking during ripening, many forms have FZhTC. The taste qualities of hybrid forms are at an average level.
6. Primary selection:
In this hybrid combination, I selected only one seedling for further study and testing in various climatic zones: PZ x RKV47 (254-12).
7. Perspective:
The combination turned out to be not very promising for breeding for frost resistance of table grapes.
