The legend of the name of the grapes Bereginya early

Bereginya — Slavic goddess, whose image over time turned into spirits, protecting people from troubles and intrigues of evil spirits. She bestows happiness on people living by conscience.

Bereginya — Slavic goddess, protector and patroness of the worthy. Goddess Bereginya, according to Slavic legends, gave birth to all life on Earth. She loves people, but protects only the worthy - those who live by conscience and do not violate the laws of their ancestors.

The Slavic goddess Bereginya is also considered the creator of all spirits and earthly riches - minerals. The latter were gifted to her people. Bereginya in Slavic mythology is presented rather abstractly, there is very little information about this deity. It is only known that there is absolutely no negative in her image.

Bereginya never played the role of a goddess who punishes for wrong actions, such as the goddess Makosh, who punishes people who have forgotten about the traditions of their ancestors. In the worst case, Bereginya may refuse help if she considers the person unworthy of her.

The goddess was usually depicted as a young girl in a light-colored dress. Her image was often translucent, like the image of a spirit. Perhaps such images of the goddess belong to a later period, when mythology turned her into a spirit-protector of people. Her name comes from the word "protect".

Trees dedicated to Beregina - birch and weeping willow. Sometimes she was even depicted as a birch. Willows were associated with mermaids, below is an explanation of the connection of water spirits with Bereginya. Our ancestors considered the birch to be a magic tree, capable of withstanding the witchcraft tricks of black magicians, as well as protecting from evil spirits.

This tree could often be seen on the streets, but they were afraid to plant a birch near the house because of many bad omens. Birch brooms have also become an invariable attribute of the Russian bath for a reason - they have unique healing and cleansing properties.

Beregin's Day is celebrated on July 15, and if according to the old style, then on July 2. It is associated with a holiday in honor of this Slavic goddess, which is practically a thing of the past. On this day, it was supposed to turn to her with requests for a good harvest, especially when it was about bread. In the old days, Bereginya was asked to save the family from hunger and to give a lot of bread in the coming autumn. But harvesting and especially mowing on this day was considered wrong.

You cannot work on most Slavic holidays. Since birch was considered the tree of the goddess-protector, special honors were given to her on the holiday of Bereginya. Women and girls who honored this goddess went outside the village, found a birch, bowed to her and asked her for happiness in love, well-being in the house, health and protection from ill-wishers.

It is believed that on July 15 Bereginya hears everyone who needs her protection and help. In the old days, it was believed that if on this day you pluck a birch branch and hide under the threshold of your beloved, you can bewitch a guy and get him as a husband.

On the day of Beregini, July 15, another tradition was observed. Towels were spread on the grass covered with morning dew, and then wiped with them. Everyone knows about the healing properties of morning dew - it replenishes the supply of vitality, gives health, beauty and longevity. Collected on a special day, for example, on Ivan Kupala, or another Slavic holiday, the dew is distinguished by truly magical properties.

Towels after wiping were hung out to dry on birches. The trees cleared the fabric of the negative collected from the person, and also charged him with the power of Beregini. Then the towels loaded with birch were used as protection from the evil eye during matchmaking and at weddings to protect the young from envy.

Signs about the weather that day were of great importance. In the old days, it was believed that on special days of the calendar, the gods can send messages about the future, warn of difficulties or delight with cloudless predictions. So, if there are yellow leaves on the trees on Bereginya, the autumn and winter cold will come ahead of schedule. Dew - for good weather and a harvest for mushrooms, and if there was no dew, then a worsening of the weather was expected.

Bereginya in Slavic mythology and legends. Over time, the cult of Bereginya disappeared, in legends and myths she remained in the role of a patron spirit who protects people who live with dignity, have a clear conscience and observe the laws of their ancestors. The spirit-bearer is sure that the main measure of a person's righteousness is his actions and the presence of a conscience. He protects only those who are worthy of the protection of the Slavic goddess, who created all life in our world.

According to legend, Bereginya protected travelers from evil spirits - Mavoks and navoks, ghouls and its other representatives. She was also the protector of the soldiers who went to battle. True, it was mostly the wives of the warriors who turned to her. It is believed that girls who have already been betrothed, but died before marriage, become Beregin.

Legends also say that Beregini are the spirits of young girls who suffered at the hands of evil people and committed suicide or were killed by them. Often, Beregini were also called special, kind mermaids - some victims of criminals ended their lives in a reservoir before becoming spirits protecting the living.

They helped fishermen to get a big catch, protected children from death in the water, saved living people from the tricks of the water line. They were also in charge of the rains that brought crops. People who settled near rivers, in the immediate vicinity of water bodies, tried to make friends with them.

Despite the fact that Bereginya is generally a kind and positive image, however, in folklore there are references to the fact that people who did not treat nature properly, they drowned, sent crop failures and harmed in other ways. Such mermaids live not only in water, but also in forest thickets. They differ from ordinary mermaids at least in that they were not born in water.

During their lifetime, some women were called Beregini. The point is in another version of the old legend. If you believe her, then the most powerful sorceress of the family, a woman famous for her kindness, who gave the world many descendants and raised them with worthy people, can become such.
