Black beads - genesis

On this page you can familiarize yourself with the birth and development of a new frost-resistant form of seedless dessert grape Black Beads.

The direction of selection is the creation of seedless table grapes with early ripening and high taste qualities. Frost resistance within –27, –28 degrees Celsius.

The first fruiting of the seedling occurred in the third year after planting the hybrid seeds. Two signal grapes were left. The grapes are grown in an arched mold without shelter for the winter.

Black beads (2020)

The first fruiting of the grape shape Black beads. Two signal bunches. The clusters are loose, not large, weighing 300-500 grams. Berry weighing 3-4 grams. Ripening period is early. Sugar is high. Seedlessness class 1-2.

Black beads (2021)

Second fruiting of sultanas Black beads. After a winter with a maximum frost of –25 degrees Celsius. the grape shape showed 100% bud burst. 4-5 bunches were left. The bunches are loose. Ripening period is early. The growth force is great. Disease resistance at 2-3 points on the susceptibility scale.

Third fruiting grape-shaped Black beads. The bush is formed on an arch, two fruit vines (future sleeves) with 4-5 shoots each. Each shoot contains two clusters. The total number of bunches per bush is 20 pieces. Overload with harvest: the ripening period has increased, the berries have not gained their color and taste.

This year, grafting was done on old bushes to test the form under stress. I continue to study and test the shape of grapes in the uncovered version.

Black beads (2023)

This year, not only the hybrid seedling bore fruit, but two more grafts. It was possible to make a comparative analysis of fruiting. On the grafted bushes the clusters were better, they ripened earlier, and the berries were larger. The average size of the bunches is 500-800 grams, the berries are 4-5 grams. The clusters are loose, have good branching of the comb. The high class of seedlessness has been confirmed.
